DAY 1, June 13th, 2005
We were up at 2:30am to catch our 6:00am flight from LAX to Washington
DC. We drove ourselves to the airport and used LAX long term parking.
Lot “B” which costs $8.00 per day. LAX has a free shuttle
service which takes you directly to your terminal at the airport.
I feel this was a good choice, low cost and less hassle. The total
cost was $40.00 for Monday, 4:00am to Saturday, 12:30am. It was
easy to use and for the most part hassle free. |
Our
5 hour and 15 minute economy flight was completed without
incident. Just a little tip, if you want to get up and stretch
often then don’t pick a window seat.
Once in Washington D.C., at the Dulles International
Airport, we had a 3 hour layover. The weather was stormy which
caused an additional 3 hours sitting in the plane waiting
for the storm cell to pass. I think in that part of the county
flight delays are common place, so just try and take delays
in stride.

Finally, 14 hours later we arrived in Buffalo, New York. It’s
now 11:00pm Eastern time. At the baggage claim we waited for
our luggage, guess what, it’s not here! We filed a lost
baggage claim and United discovered our luggage had been sent
to Cincinnati. United promised it will be in on the next flight
to Buffalo, sometime around 2:00 am.. United also promised
they will deliver our luggage to our hotel and not to worry.

| We moved on to the car rental by Avis. Avis didn’t
have the small car the package included so they upgraded without
any additional charges. The car was nice and clean. It didn’t
have any mechanical problems for the 500 miles and four days
we used it.
11:55 pm Eastern Standard Time,. we checked in at the Buffalo
Hyatt Regency. Our room was ready and waiting. We were hungry
and tired and the hotel restaurant was closed. The front desk
recommended a local pizza delivery, La Nova. Bev and I really
didn’t want pizza at that hour but we were so hungry
we went ahead and called for delivery. I sure am glad we did,
it is the best darn pizza.
